     The Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is an outstanding creation of Mugal Emperor Shah Hahan. It was built as a token of love for his beloved wife Momotaz Mahal. It is one of the seven wonders in the world. The Taj Mahal is situated in Agra(Map) which is a northern cit of India. It is a magnificent building. Emperor Shah Hahan is known as the prince of builders. He had an endless love for his wife Momotaz. To express his love towards Momotaz he had an intention to buikd a highly exclusive building. This is the background behind the creation of the Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan wanted to make such a beautiful monument that works attract the people of the world for ages. He planned to spend enough money and time to complete the monument. More than twenty thousand workers were employed to work for building up the Taj. These workers worked about twenty two years and built this unparallel monument which is still a great attraction for the people all over the world. Architecturally, the Taj Mahal is still one of the most magnificent buildings in the world. It has eight sides and a lot of open arches. It rests on a platform or terrace of red sandstones. Four slender white towers rise from the canners of the terrace. There is a large dome above the centre of the building. Around this large dome there are four small domes. Just inside the outer walls, there is an open corridor from which visitors can look through carved marble screens into a central room. The bodies of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz lie in two graces below this room. The surroundings of the Taj Mahal are really excellent. A beautiful garden lies around the Taj Mahal. There is a long narrow pool in front of the main entrance to the building. The pool enhances the beauty of the Taj to a large extent. In the water of the pool the beauty of the Taj is reflected and appears as an incomparable discovery to the visitors. Lacs of visitors visit the Taj Mahal every year. It had created an appeal to the visitors. Some people believe that the Taj mahal is most charming at sunset. At this time the marble assumes the color of the sun beams, and the building and its image in the pool shine like pink gems. Some people like it most at noon when the bright sun makes the marble shine perfect white. Nevertheless others think it should be viewed at by moonlight.
